Want To Accelerate Your Idea Into A Solution?

The objective of the BIH DHA program at Charité is to support the development of digital health solutions, including medical products and health tech solutions. Apply to the BIH Digital Health Accelerator Program and make your digital health solution come to life. We will help you bring your idea directly into the healthcare system for the benefit of patients and society.

Who Can Apply?

All Charité employees (including BIH), from clinical, research, and administrative departments, independent of their specialties and positions, are eligible to apply. Please see below for a non-exhaustive list:

  • Clinicians
  • Researchers
  • Nursing Staff
  • Midwives
  • Doctoral Students

Also available for funding are projects in collaboration with, or jointly developed with, other research or clinical institutions. Registered companies are not eligible to apply.

BIH promotes equality and especially encourages members of underrepresented groups to apply. Please note that our working language is English.

Program Elements

Program Structure

The BIH Digital Health Accelerator program is organized into two distinct stages.

Phase 1

Phase 1: Prototype

Funded teams develop prototypes (wireframe, proof-of-technology, proof-of-concept) based on their targeted medical needs and submitted concepts.

Demo Day

At the conclusion of the program, teams in phase 1 present their innovations on Demo Day to an interdisciplinary audience of investors, policy makers, and healthcare professionals.

Phase 2

Stage 2: Product

Teams selected for stage 2 further develop their digital health technologies and prepare for launch. The goal of this phase is to transfer prototypes into medical applications via e.g. licensing, industry collaboration, or spin-off company formation.

Our Offerings

Not quite ready for the BIH DHA Program?
Try Momentum!

For individuals or teams interested in digital health innovation, but are not yet sure whether they’re ready for the full BIH DHA program, we offer Momentum.

Momentum serves as a “no-strings-attached” support for clinicians and researchers (from within Charité, BIH and the DHZC) to receive support, feedback, and gain insight into the different paths available to advance your digital health ideas. While this does not involve funding, through flexible, on-demand consultation sessions, Momentum helps you to explore your unmet need and potential solutions, estimate the potential of your idea, and generate a convincing pitch deck for your idea.

Whether your next step is joining our Digital Health Incubation Program, securing academic research grants, partnering with third parties, or advancing independently, Momentum is designed to keep your project moving forward.
